QOTD: What is an allegory?
Allegory is a story or poem that can interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning usually one that is moral or political and characters are symbols that stands for ideas about human life. Allegory is a powerful way to express an idea because it gets a reader to actually think and it is a different way to reveal a hidden message. Animal Farm is a great example of allegory because the animals in the book are actually real people/leaders during the Russian Revolution and is political by using Animalism to compare with Communism.

If I was an animal listening to Squealer's speech, I would disagree with his reasoning. If Napoleon really thought that all animals were equal, then he would let them make decisions for themselves. Squealer's reasoning does not make sense if Napoleon makes all the decisions and the other animals don't, that means Napoleon has all the power which makes the animals not equal. Saying that Napoleon's decisions are always good decisions and saying that decisions made by the other animals are sometimes bad decisions takes away the fact that they are actually equal. Squealer is basically saying that the other animals are not smart enough to make decisions but Napoleon is.

Intelligence is one of the main qualities of a good leader but it is not the most important quality. A great quality for a leader is being unselfish and responsibility. Instead of using power for your own selfish needs you should use that power to make decisions that help the people. You can be an intelligent leader but you won't have the support of the people unless your decisions are what make the people happy. A great leader is also responsible and does the things the people expect him/her to do and resolves problems. For our group, our group leader is Megan. We picked Megan as our leader because she is smart and is responsible. She can find answers that we need and knows what we need to do for our group.
